Money: There’re no bank on Cat Ba island but Vu Binh Jewellers( 033 888 641) can change cheques at 3,3%commision and does credit card cash advances at 5%.

Post:  The main post office is the place to make international telephone calls.

Getting around.

Cat ba island is 45km east of Hai Phong and 20km south of Halong City. There are many piers on Cat Ba Island but most handy is the jetty directly in front of Cat Ba town from where the hydrofoils to Hai Phong depart.

There are 3 hydrofoils linking Cat Ba to Hai Phong but all dpart at 15:15 pm. From Hai Phong to Cat ba island is at 8.20 am, 8.50 am and 9 am.
