Getting there and around.
Cao Bang is 272km north of Hanoi following National Highway No.3. Cao Bang has National Highway No.4B and 3 linking to Lang Son, Bac Kan, Ha Giang provinces and to China. There are direct buses from Hanoi ( take 10 hours), Thai Nguyen and Lang Son ( take 5 hours) to the Cao Bang bus station in Kim Dong str.
4 WD is recommended for tours around this area as the road condition is not good at all the way. Or to reach to the falls, you can walk or hire a Xe Om ( Motorbike taxi) to take you.
Ethnic minorities in Cao Bang are most Mongtagnard people, then Tay, Hmong , D’zao and Lolo and there’re some markets there where we can visit and relise which minority they are via their dresses.
People here are trust and friendly. You can buy anything at the market with the same price with local people there, no need to bargain.
Eating
It seems there’s only one good restaurant here;
Nha Hang Thanh Truc in Cao Bang town or you can have meals at the hotels or guest houses here.
For walking tour around Cao Bang, we must prepare for picnic lunch in advanced as no restaurants or hotels in Ban Gioc waterfall as well as around there.
